She lifted her face to the breeze as the fog rolled in off the ocean. Breathing in the heavy air she felt the all too familiar flash of suffocation. The moisture making it difficult to breath.
‘But this is what you wanted.’
Freedom. No one dragging her down beside her. No one asking where she’s been or what’s she’s done.
The thick air crept closer, surrounding her. Blinding her vision, muffling all sounds. The blanket of moisture swirled around her and she was truly alone.
Just like she’d always wanted.
What am I to do now? My husband died a month ago. The flurry of cards have stopped coming. I’ve written all my thank you notes. The food the neighbors brought is eaten or frozen. I’m buried in paperwork and financial stuff. Everything takes so long…the IRS, the insurance company, the bank, and even friends who offer to help. I have to wait on everyone!
What am I to do now? The social security check stopped because I am too young to receive it. I have to go back to work but will anyone want to hire a 47 year old?
What am I to do now? Should I sell the house and move? Everyone says, “Don’t make any major decisions for at least a year.” But a year is a long time and I have to pay bills tomorrow! I can not wait.
God, are you there? Will you clear the fog? Will you please tell me what am I to do now?
